NEW EXHIBITION IN TOOWOOMBA

My latest exhibition ‘FLIGHT PATTERNS’ opens at MARS GALLERY, theGRID at Toowoomba, Queensland next Friday.

Yes its black and white photographs of bird’s poo!

It’s not a subject most people think of as aesthetically pleasing but the random patterns remind me of a Jackson Pollock painting. I was fascinated by the delicate patterns, creamy white textures and shapes when I was walking around Venice a few years ago.

I’ve been shooting bird’s poo all over Sydney this year and the 21 images on show capture the delicate patterns that bird droppings make on our pavements. They become a landscape overlaid onto another landscape – the brick pavers, concrete, granite slabs, and wooden boards that we walk on each day.

These works explore the idea that beauty is all around us and in places that we least expect it.
